HARDWARE QUESTIONS
Q: On which Mac model can I install the PM6100
logic board?
A: The following Mac models have the same logic board factor
as the PM6100 and therefore the PM6100 will fit in these models:
Centris 610, Centris 660AV, Quadra 610, Quadra 610/DOS, Quadra 660AV,
and Work Group Server 60. However the openings for the back ports are
different, that means you also need a differnt back panel.
Q: What is the maximum amount of RAM I can have
with the PM6100 ?
A: The maximum amount of RAM is 264 MB, which is 2 times 128
MB SIMMs (72 pins) plus there are 8MB soldered on the logic
board.
Q: I have 40 MB installed on my PM6100 logic
board but the System takes over 32 MB of it and there is only about 8
MB free. What is wrong?
A: Verify whether you have 32-bit addressing turned ON in the
Memory Control Panel. It is probably turned off since the new PM6100
logic board has the default settings in PRAM. You will also probably
need to reset the Date & Time, Printer, Mouse speed, etc.
.Q: Can I use the same peripherals I have
attached to my computer?
A: Yes and no. The PM6100 has no AV-compatible ports. However
if you do sound recording the microphone has to be a PlainTalk
microphone.
Q: Are there other upgrades available for my
MicroMac PM6100 Logic Board Upgrade?
A: Yes, basically any upgrade for the PM6100 will apply for
this upgrade as well.
To receive additional information on these upgrades, please
contact MicroMac at 800-600-6227 or 949-362-1000 or visit our Web
site at www.micromac.com.
Q: Why do you offer two different speeds 60 MHz
and 80 MHz?
A: The 80 MHz versionis a clocked up 66 MHz logic board, it
includes our Mach10Jet.
Q: I'm upgrading form a DOS compatible, does
this upgrade work for me?
A: Yes and no. Since you replace the your complete logic
board, you also remove the DOS card with it. The new logic board will
fit in your model and will work, but you do not have a DOS card
anymore. However since you have a PPC you can use some of the
software solution to run DOS and Windows programs. Although there are
DOS cards available for the PM6100
Q: Can I still use the PDS card I have
currently installed?
A: No, the 040 PDS slod is different then the PPC601 PDS.
Q: Where can I find more technical
information?
A: Use our on-line Mac
Specs data base.
Q: Does the upgrade come with an FPU?
A: Yes, all PPC have the FPU built in.
Q: Can I use the same monitor I have
currently?
A: Yes, but you need the video adapter cable, since the PM6100
has the HD-AV video connector.
SOFTWARE QUESTIONS
Q: Can I just replace my current C610 or Q610
logic board with the PM6100 logic board or do I need a certain
minimum System software?
A: The minimum System is 7.1.2 with the PPC Enabler.
Q: Since I installed the new PM6100 logic board
I cannot print. What's wrong?
A: The new logic board does not have the printer information
made available to it in its PRAM. To have the logic board identify
your printer, select your printer in the Chooser again (the Chooser
is located under the Apple Menu). You will probably need to also
reset the Date & Time, Mouse speed and Memory Addressing settings
from their respective Control Panels (located inside the Control
Panels Folder inside the System Folder).
Q: Every time I boot up I get the error "reset
Time and Date", where do I reset Time and Date?
A: The new logic board does not have any information it in its
PRAM. Time and Date is one of these information. For Time and Date
use either the Alarm Clock DA, the "General Controls" or the "Date
& Time" Control Panel.
Q: I'm convinced, yes I want to get this
upgrade, what do I have to do?
A: To place the order, use
this form (there is also a phone number on this form to
call).
At the time you place the order you will be given a RMA number for
you logic board, which you send back to us after the new logic board
is completely working. This RMA number also appears on your invoice.
There is also a deposit on the invoice for you old logic board, which
we'll refund you upon receipt of your logic board.
