Fast External Hard Disk Drive for iMac

MicroMac's new iDEC-Drive for the iMac computer connects a fast external hard disk drive to the iMac.

The revolutionary iDEC™ technology adds a fast 4MB/s external port to the iMac. The iDEC-Drive connects with a single connector to the iDEC and achieves its high performance through parallel data transfer.

The small enclosure fits perfectly next the iMac.

iDEC Technology: The iDEC technology adds a new port to the iMac. The iDEC features a 44-pin connector installed in the expansion slot cover of the iMac. This connector carries both the power and the data to the external iDEC-Drive.

iDEC Installation: Installing the iDEC technology inside your iMac is as easy as installing memory.
Gaining access to the iMac logic board is done by following Apple's memory installation instructions.
The internal iDEC cable and circuitry is connected between the iMac's logic board and the internal hard disk drive. The external iDEC connector is installed into the expansion slot cover.

iDEC-Drive: The external iDEC-Drive is connected with the iDEC cable to the iDEC connector in the side of the iMac. The iDEC Drive comes in three different storage capacities: 2GB, 4GB or 8GB.

Performance: iDEC drive easily achieves a data transfer performance of 4MB/sec. In fact, it is as fast as the internal hard disk drive. External USB drives, once available will be limited to the maximum limit of 1.2MB/sec of the USB specification. The iDEC-Drive is 300% faster than any USB drive.
